Apple software updates for streaming services like Twitch, Netflix, and HBO Go caused an outage in a major region of the US, causing users to be redirected to an Apple Support page for assistance.
The affected region of North America is the Midwest, but there were also other regions affected, including California and Illinois, according to the Twitter account @applesupport.
Apple issued a public statement shortly after the outage and said it is investigating the cause.
“We are aware of a reported service outage affecting a significant portion of the United States and we are working with local and federal authorities to determine the root cause of the outage,” the company said in the statement.
The outage is the latest example of Apple’s lack of responsiveness to customer complaints.
In June, a number of users of the company’s popular Apple TV streaming device, which can stream content from Apple’s own services, experienced problems when they tried to use it to stream content.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
